We are looking for 01 Law Enforcement Lead (SA2 Lead), USAID Counter Wildlife Trafficking Activity, WWF-Viet Nam, based in Hanoi
**This position is subject to project award, funding, and USAID approval**
The “USAID Counter Wildlife Trafficking” activity is a 5-year program starting from June 2021 to July 2026. The activity aims to increase Viet Nam leadership in countering wildlife trafficking through enhancing the commitment of Government of Viet Nam (GVN) leaders at the national and provincial level, increasing the effectiveness of wildlife enforcement and reducing demand and consumption of illegal wildlife products. To realise this, USAID has identified the following key objectives:1) Engage and develop political and local champions to address CWT; 2) Strengthen law enforcement; and 3) Reduce consumer demand.
Reporting to the project’s Chief of Party (COP), the Partnerships Technical Lead is responsible for technical management and thought leadership of Strategic Approach 1. This position will act as the coordinator of all external partnerships with the public, private and CSO sectors to ensure structured outreach and messaging to identify and develop champions who can contribute to countering illegal wildlife trade in these areas.
Reporting to the project’s Chief of Party (COP), the Law Enforcement Lead is responsible for:
- Technical management and thought leadership of Key Objective 2 of the USAID Counter Wildlife Trafficking project.
- Assessing and overseeing appropriate capacity development programs to a range of agencies responsible for addressing wildlife crime at central and provincial levels, including Forest Protection Department (FPD), police, customs, environmental police, prosecutors and judiciary to ultimately increase detections, arrests, prosecutions, and convictions.
- Determining approaches and level of effort to apply in CWT in different locations in relation to physical and online markers, border crossings, ports and airports.
Key requirements for the role:
- Higher degree in conservation-related field, natural resource governance/law enforcement, environment crimes, policy administration, police and investigation study;
- At least 10 years of applied working experience in law enforcement mechanisms relevant to the major duties listed above;
