The event attracted the participation of approximately 250 delegates, including leaders and staff from units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, representatives of local authorities, organizations, businesses, youth unions, as well as numerous volunteers and residents of the capital.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Le Trong Dam – Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper affirmed that the event was not only an opportunity for stakeholders to join hands in carrying out environmental protection activities, but also a chance to further spread the message of each individual’s and organization’s responsibility toward nature and the living environment.

With the support of the People’s Committee of Tay Ho Ward, Hanoi, this event extends the national movement, thereby affirming the central role of the community in participating in and implementing activities to protect and improve the urban environment.

As one of the notable ESG-performing enterprises in the retail sector in 2025, Mr. Kim Beomchang – Director of Human Resources Innovation, Lotte Mart Korea, said: “Implemented globally, RE:EARTH integrates environmental protection activities into the retail sector, gradually developing into an integrated ESG platform (Environmental, Social and Governance) by promoting sustainable consumption, enhancing recycling, and improving resource efficiency.”

Coming to West Lake, Lotte Mart continues to work with agencies, organizations and the community to implement practical activities aimed at protecting the environment and spreading a green lifestyle, for a more sustainable future for Vietnam.

From the international organization side, Ms. Park Min-hye, CEO of WWF-Korea, stated: “Plastic pollution is a common challenge faced by many countries and needs to be addressed through the joint efforts of governments, businesses, social organizations and communities. At the same time, today’s activity is not simply a waste collection program, but a symbol of active cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea in responding to global environmental challenges.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thien Phuong, Deputy Director General of the Department of Environment under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, highly appreciated the initiative of the Organizing Committee and expressed her hope that the event would contribute to changing awareness through highly practical actions.

As part of the event, all delegates joined a series of activities, including plastic waste collection and gift exchange, as well as a cycling campaign to raise public awareness. The Organizing Committee presented 200 RE:EARTH eco-friendly shopping bags and “Green Volunteer” certificates to volunteer groups from the Youth Union of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam National University of Forestry, the University of Science, the Youth Union of Tay Ho Ward, and other units and mass organizations of Tay Ho Ward that actively participated in the launch campaign.

Not only contributing to the improvement of the urban environment, RE:EARTH – For a Green West Lake also serves as evidence of the joint efforts of businesses, regulatory agencies and social organizations in promoting the circular economy model, fulfilling corporate social responsibility, and accompanying Vietnam on its journey toward achieving the Net Zero target by 2050.
