The Saola (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis) is one of the rarest large animals on earth and a bicultural icon for Viet Nam. Discovered in the early 1990’s, it became rapidly classified as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and it has not been detected in the wild since it was captured on a camera trap in 2013 in Viet Nam’s Annamnites forests. To prevent its imminent extinction, WWF has put efforts in numerous activities in the past few decades. This year, one of our new projects is to do an immense search for the species to capture and breed them in captivity - an emergency approach to save the saola from extinction. Another important part of the project is to raise awareness for communities that are in the saola ranges and the wider public audience as the secondary audience.

WWF-Viet Nam is looking for a consultant to deliver communications activities for the project. Detailed of work in attached TOR
 
II. Scope of Work

The consultant is expected to:

• Study the communication guidelines of WWF;
• Study information on the saola and the conservation works that have been done to save the species;
• Study on hunting and snaring issues as well as past stories on saola captures
• Understanding the project's goals and its communications objectives
• Working with WWF-Viet Nam team and the project's partners while developing the works (listed in Annex 1)
• Ready for field trips and interview local communities, researchers and related stakeholders on saola-related topics to develop products for multi channels
• Capable to design pre and post Seagames campaigns, including mass, social media and off-line campaigns,   to raise awareness for different stakeholders  about Saola, aiming at saving biodiversity 
• Work with agencies and different stakeholders to deliver campaigns, measure impacts and report.

III. Qualifications

The consultant is required to have:

• Obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field or 5 years of experience in communications work;
• Excellent in stories gathering and writing, social content writing
• Strong experience in producing stories packages including stories gathering and writing; social content posts and photography;
• Deep understanding of social media and mass media;
• Capable with campaign designing and executing; 
• Good understanding and background on conservation issues;
• Passionate about communications and conservation;
• Has been worked with WWF is a plus;
• Demonstrated ability to adhere to strict confidentiality;
• Can Do attitude;
• Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Courage, Respect, Integrity and Collaboration;
