On April 14, WWF-Viet Nam in cooperation with Xuan Son national park organise a tree planting event on a 0.35 ha area in Coi village of Xuan Son district, Phu Tho province as a part of a bigger plan to plant 10 hectares and nurture 400 ha natural forest here.
Reforestation is one of the key activities under the project “Restoring and managing the critical water sources in the Red river and Tien river basins'' implemented by the Water Partnership Office under the International Cooperation Department - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, HEINEKEN Vietnam Brewery Limited Company (Heineken Vietnam) and WWF - Viet Nam. Implemented from August 2022 to December 2025, the project aims at driving tangible impacts in water conservation.

1,000 trees were planted at the event. They are among more than 30,000 indigenous trees, which are to be planted over the total areas of 10 hectares in Xuan Son National park. This activity is a key attribute to achieving the project’s overal volume of water benefit up to 3 billion liters per year.

The event was attended by 50 local leaders and people from Coi village, from Xuan Son commune. They are important project stakeholders as to achieve the project goals to replenish and protect water resources, it requires greater participation and support of Xuan Son National Park management board and especially local communities in taking care of the planted trees, and further reducing the impacts from their daily activities to the water environment through nature-based solutions.
